EMC Corp. announced a series of packages and programs aimed at simplifying the acquisition of storage platform and software technology for customers. Featuring the award-winning CLARiiON CX platform as well as VisualSAN and VisualSRM open storage management applications, EMC's new cost-effective networked storage packages and Try and Buy software program are tailored for small-to-medium-size storage environments. The new offerings are available through EMC's broad network of channel partners.
John Koury, EMC's Vice President of Channel Marketing, said, "More and more small-and medium-size organizations are looking to purchase EMC storage hardware and software products to manage and protect growing volumes of information. The new packaging and programs provide our customers and partners with the most simple and efficient means available to acquire EMC solutions."
Entry-level networked storage packages
Optimized for organizations looking to deploy workgroup direct-attach or SAN environments, each package contains a powerful combination of EMC networked storage hardware, software and service for one affordable price. CLARiiON networked storage packages provide a complete storage solution that are easy to implement and offer centralized management and strong performance for applications such as e-mail, databases and web services.
Providing unmatched reliability, scalability and intuitive management software, all three solutions include a CLARiiON CX200 system with 350GB of capacity, Navisphere and Access Logix storage management software, host bus adapters (HBAs), fibre channel cables, installation, support, hardware warranty and software maintenance.
* DAS High-Availability Package -– A simple, direct-attached solution with redundant dual-path connectivity for a single host. This solution is ready to accept a second server in a clustered configuration.
* SAN Basic Package –- A full SAN solution for multi-host connectivity for two servers via an EMC Connectrix DS-8B2 switch. This package is suited for server consolidation and shared storage and includes VisualSAN Try and Buy software (see below).
* SAN High-Availability Package -– This SAN package is configured for maximum availability and includes fully redundant, dual-path connectivity for two servers via two EMC Connectrix DS-8B2 switches. This package is also suited for storage and server consolidation and includes VisualSAN Try and Buy software.
These complete storage solutions are targeted to meet growing information storage requirements and can be expanded to include more capacity and connectivity as needed. Customers can start small today with the new networked storage packages and easily upgrade to a CLARiiON CX400 or CX600 with data-in-place as performance, capacity and management requirements expand. CLARiiON's compatible upgradeability protects hardware and software investments.
Try and Buy Program
Additionally, EMC now offers a Try and Buy software evaluation program. This program offers customers and partners the ability to install and utilize VisualSAN and VisualSRM software applications free of charge for 30 days. Customers who purchase the storage software can activate modules and functionality via EMC's new web-based electronic license key fulfillment system.
VisualSRM and VisualSAN are mid-tier storage management software applications designed and architected from the ground up to help organizations simplify and automate their networked storage environments.
Pricing and availability
All packages are immediately available from EMC and members of its Velocity Channel Partner Program. Estimated end-user pricing for the DAS High-Availability Package is $17,000. Estimated end-user pricing for SAN packages start at $23,000.
