New BCD business partners receive free software, marketing assistance

Business Computer Design International Inc. (BCD) announced an aggressive campaign to recruit new Business Partners to expand the BCD Network. This initiative is intended to increase software sales and consulting services business activity to iSeries shops for Business Partners. BCD is offering new partners free paid up licenses on any of eight different award winning software products, including tools for: iSeries and Multi-platform Web Application development, iSeries ILE and RPG Application development, Business Intelligence, and Programmer Productivity.

BCD will also provide marketing assistance to help new partners build pipelines. Groups eligible to participate include IBM Business Partners, companies who resell software in the iSeries-AS/400 space, and those who add value with consulting services.

The following Award Winning BCD software products are available through this offer:

  • WebSmart IDE and WAS for iSeries and multi-platform development. Generates ILE-CGI or Java Servlets
  • Nexus Customized iSeries Web Portal, Web Desktop
  • Catapult, Automated iSeries Report Distribution system (email, PDF, HTML, Forms Overlay)
  • Spool-Explorer, end-user driven iSeries Report Management system
  • ProGen Plus, RPG/400 and ILE/RPG versions, iSeries Program Generator and Report Writer
  • DbGen, iSeries Database Management system that interfaces with ProGen Plus
  • Docu-Mint, the RPG/400, ILE/RPG and S/36 environment cross-referencing, impact analysis system
  • File-Flash Plus, a file editor for iSeries-AS/400 computers

These products have won 19 Industry Awards, including the iSeries News APEX Award, IBM eServer-iSeries Honor Roll Award and Showcase Product Excellence Awards. Through internal sales efforts and those of partners, BCD has sold over 28,000 software systems to more than 10,000 organizations worldwide.

Free software licenses selected by new BCD Business Partners will be licensed to the partner and are not eligible for resale. Although the product licenses are free, partners are required to pay the annual software maintenance/support fee for the products they have selected which includes unlimited technical support, all new product releases, updates, documentation and access to the technical web site for a variety of services.

To assist new BCD Business Partners with their marketing initiatives, BCD will also furnish contact information on up to 500 (US based) iSeries - AS/400 shops in the partners geographical area. BCD will also provide marketing guidance at no charge and collateral materials at cost.

Commenting on the new program, Eric Figura, BCD's Director of Sales and Marketing says, "BCD's objective is to expand our distribution channel and have distributors tap into this successful and affordable product line."

BCD product sales have been robust this year increasing by 35%. Market acceptance of WebSmart has been very strong; the Nexus portal has been well received, and Catapult has exhibited impressive growth. All three of these products are sold independently or as an integrated solution.

Figura adds, "WebSmart runs on any size iSeries computer so there are no expensive hardware upgrades like those that are common to IBM WebSphere initiatives. Implementing WebSmart often saves companies $20,000 to $200,000 by avoiding those upgrades."

Figura says services offered by partners are easier to sell if they are coupled with BCD's product line that offers clear benefits including, no expensive upgrade issues, a faster web server environment, and shorter development cycle. "Our products make it all the more affordable for customers to do new business," says Figura. BCD is looking to add 50 to 100 new partners with this program.

The software offered in this promotion will improve day-to-day operations for BCD Business Partners and build familiarity with their solutions. iSeries consultants can use award-winning WebSmart to develop iSeries and/or multi-platform applications for their clients in less time than with any other iSeries development tool in the marketplace. "WebSmart can be used to develop web apps for SMBs, large clients, and anyone in between," says Figura. "Offering Nexus with WebSmart gives clients a complete solution- from development to server and portal."

Partners may also select BCD's multi-award winning document management system Catapult, which enables users to automatically send iSeries reports as email, in PDF, HTML, and RTF formats. Additionally, Catapult facilitates forms overlay management, faxing, printing, archiving, report splitting and now can be used in conjunction with WebSmart and the Nexus portal which can push reports through to users portlets.

ProGen Plus is a five-time industry award-winning development tool that develops RPG/400 and/or ILE-RPG programs and reports. ProGen Plus develops programs 8-20 times faster than manual methods. Business Partners selecting ProGen Plus will be able to develop applications for their clients with no proprietary run time license needed.

BCD Business Partners who market BCD software products will receive commissions on the software products they sell. There are several different levels for partners to participate in depending on the structure of their business and projected business activity. Commission rates vary from level to level.
