eSP expands Stay-Linked support to additional host platforms, operating systems, wireless devices

PRESS RELEASE

Software provider eBusiness Solution Pros Inc. (eSP) announced that its popular Stay-Linked product, which reliably extends IBM AS/400-iSeries supply chain applications to wireless devices through 5250 terminal emulation, now supports additional computing platforms and wireless terminal emulation types:

* IBM mainframe-zSeries servers running the z/OS and OS/390 operating systems (3270 emulation).
* IBM RS/6000-pSeries servers running the AIX operating system (VT emulation).
* Hewlett-Packard HP9000 servers running on the HP-UX operating system (VT emulation).

eSP has also expanded Stay-Linked support for Symbol, Intermec and PSC handheld wireless devices that run on PocketPC, Windows CE, CE.net and Mobile 2003 operating systems. Stay-Linked has proved very successful with DOS-based 802.11 wireless scanning devices – from Symbol and other manufacturers – running on the AS/400-iSeries platform and has a sizeable installed customer base that includes such companies as Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corp., Chicago Finished Metals, and Polaris Industries.

Because all terminal emulation software and client device/session control runs as a managed process on the host platform, Stay-Linked prevents the pain and costs associated with dropped wireless user sessions. When disruptions in wireless device access occur, Stay-Linked keeps wireless user sessions alive on the host. As soon as wireless access is restored to the device, users are automatically returned to their original session, exactly where they were immediately prior to the disruption.

According to Patricia Converse, eSP's vice president, sales and marketing, the decision to expand support for Stay-Linked to these additional host platforms, operating systems and wireless devices at this time was driven by demand from both eSP's customer base and channel partners.

"Stay-Linked has proven its value as a host-based wireless terminal emulation solution through significant productivity gains for our AS/400-iSeries customers," said Converse. "The expanded support enables both us and our channel partners to take the Stay-Linked value proposition to a much broader market. Stay-Linked now runs on virtually all of the popular supply chain application computing platforms and supports the most popular wireless devices."

The Stay-Linked solution is available from eSP-authorized resellers and marketed through a worldwide channel that includes U.S. systems integrators Barcoding, Inc., Excalibur Integrated Systems, and Stratix Corp., as well as distributors Avnet Technology Solutions and WAV Wireless Outfitters. In Europe, Stay-Linked is distributed by ZETES.
