COMMON board names new executive vice president

PRESS RELEASE

On June 28, COMMON's Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment of Rares Pateanu as their executive vice president (EVP). Mr. Pateanu, who has served on the Board since the fall of 1998, was named EVP to replace Paula Hodge, who resigned from the Board in April.

"Rares is a valuable asset to the Board," said COMMON President Bob Boyson. "He has taken on many important, time-intensive projects this year, and he is a natural choice to fill the open slot of executive vice president."

Rares Pateanu's professional biography
Rares Pateanu has been involved in the information technology industry for over 25 years, in research and development, system software development, applications development, security, customer service, management and marketing. After working on Digital's PDP and Vax systems and writing special purpose operating systems on Intel processors, Rares spent almost a decade of his career at IBM, where he held several development, management and marketing positions in the AS/400 area, including RPG Development Manager, and AS/400 World-Wide Application Development Market Manager.

He is currently Technology Head, Solutions & Applications Capital Markets at the Bank of Montreal, where he manages several departments deploying leading edge technology for trading fixed income products in the capital markets.
