IBM said Thursday that it would step up its iSeries advertising campaign with several ads slated to run during the NFL playoffs airing on CBS in January.
The national ad campaign was kicked off last month during ABC's presentation of The Five People You Meet in Heaven. The ad, which plugs the i5 as a powerful consolidation server, was first shown to iSeries users during the spring COMMON user conference in San Antonio.
Big Blue expects this ad to reach 30 million viewers.
The TV ads are a major shift in marketing for IBM, which has been generally reluctant to spend marketing dollars on ads in broad markets. But Bingaman said the ads are an integral part of the overall marketing efforts for the iSeries.
"IBM is committed to alerting the marketplace about the simplicity of the iSeries platform, and its growing portfolio of solutions for small and medium-sized businesses," said Peter Bingaman, vice president, IBM iSeries in a statement. "Airing this TV spot during one of the most popular weekends in sports demonstrates IBM's increased commitment to building general awareness of the iSeries servers and their unique benefits."
