QUESTION POSED ON: 29 July 2003
I am going to be taking some courses to upgrade my iSeries programming skill set. I'm considering a Java course. What languages are in the highest demand -- especially for entry-level programmers?

>

We are finding that 'web-enablement' skills are becoming more important in iSeries data centers. Tools and environments that appear to be the most in demand are Java, Lotus Notes-Domino, J2EE, Swing, JSP, and XML. Application server packages, such as WebSphere, WebLogic, and Tomcat also seem to be in demand.

Skills and training that enhance your abilities to interface the traditional iSeries environment into other platforms (Unix, Microsoft, etc) will also enhance your marketability.
