QUESTION POSED ON: 23 January 2003
We have recently purchased a Model 270 with V5R2 already installed on it. We have a 170 running V4R5. Can we save our file libraries and application libraries on the V4R5 machine and restore them on the V5R2 system?

Simply put, yes. Each version of OS/400 is backwards compatible with previous versions of OS/400. How far back each version will go, I'm not completely sure, but I've never had a significant problem except going from V2R2 to V4R5.
