QUESTION POSED ON: 07 January 2003
QSERVER jobs (QZDASOINIT QSQSRVR) are taking too many resources from our system. No matter what run priority is given to these jobs, they always seem to take more resources than the main system jobs that run (written in RPGLE). Is there a way to reduce the resource given to these jobs and therefore improve the performance of our core RPG programs?

>

As far as I know, these are impervious to any attempts to limit them. Unless they are Client Access connections or ODBC queries, there is not much you can do, other than to change the applications that are starting the jobs. If they are CA or ODBC, you can change the way they operate from the PC side.

USER FEEDBACK TO THIS EXPERT Q&A

  • We have had some luck in both lowering the run priority to 50 and also to running the QZDASOINIT jobs in a shared pool by defining a shared pool in the QSERVER subsystem and changing the QZDASOINIT prestart job entry to use this pool. -- Lisa Dehkes
