QUESTION POSED ON: 26 July 2002
We have had a variety of users use our iSeries via the Internet using either Telnet or Client Access. Since July 1 a sister company in Australia has not been able to sign on. July 3 we had an IP address change. Everybody except Australia can get on. I had them change the IP address in Client Access. They said they could ping the iSeries.

I would suspect name resolution problem as follows:

* Your iSeries is with a different IP address .

* This address is reachable from the remote system (i.e ping is OK) .

* However Telnet or Client Access is trying to reach the iSeries by name and not the IP and the name is resoled to the old IP address (either from the DNS or host table).

You may want to try and ping the iSeries by name and see if you get results. One more thing you can try is to Tenet from the remote site using the IP address and not the host name.

If this does not help please provide detailed network description (example: how do you connect, firewalls on the way, and routers with restrictions etc.)
