QUESTION POSED ON: 26 March 2009
I have an i550 V5R4, a 17-disk 70Go (two RAID5 set) with two Raid controllers, a 2780 and 573D, and a three disk 282Go with 2780 (shared with 9/17 disk 70Go) as RAID controller (one Raid-5 set). All of these disks are in one system, ASP. Will this configuration impact the performance of my system? If yes, what is the solution?

It all depends!

Without knowing what kind of workload you are carrying on your server, it is impossible to determine if this disk configuration will impact overall performance.

I would suggest that you use the iSeries performance tools to collect data during a busy part of the day and then analyze this data to see if your disk performance is impacting overall system performance.
