QUESTION POSED ON: 16 October 2008
How do we keep an employee that is inside the building from sniffing traffic in the FTP server or mapped network drive to the iSeries and obtaining the user id and password in a clear text format?

This could come from the windows operating system or from a custom-wrote batch file on the PC.

To prevent an insider from obtaining the user id and password by sniffing traffic in the FTP server or mapped network drive to the iSeries, configure all FTP and iSeries access connections to use SSL. That way everything is encrypted, including the user id and password.
