QUESTION POSED ON: 07 June 2008 If the System Security level is 40, how do I change the QSECOFR password? The existing QSECOFR password is incorrect and none of staff in Secorf class and Secadmin has *allobj authority. Due to a typo, the new QSECOFR password is wrong in the sealed envelope. How do we go about changing the password? Journal files clean up the system every three days.

It doesn't matter what security level the system is at, the process for changing a forgotten or unknown QSECOFR password is the same. You must go into Service Tools and reset it to be the default. For the exact steps, look at this manual Service tools user IDs and passwords, then look for the section titled, "Resetting the QSECOFR user profile password." (You mentioned that the journals are cleaned up every three days. That wouldn't have helped. Passwords are not logged on System i so even if the journals were available, they contain no passwords.)
