QUESTION POSED ON: 12 March 2008
When I use command STRFMA to Copy user defined characters to DBCS font table. AS/400 Runing STOP.... And log is

File QFMAUSR created in library QTEMP.

Member QFMAUSR added to file QFMAUSR in QTEMP.

Space offset X'0015FF00' or X'0000000000000000' is outside current limit for object QIGC2424C.

What's wrong?

>

A program is changing the value of a space pointer which is pointing into the object QIGC2424C. The value being given to the space pointer is greater than the size of the object. So, the system stops the program and issues this error message.

I've looked at the QIGC2424C object on my system, and it's a lot smaller that X'0015FF00' bytes. It's X'00118000' bytes. However, it's likely that the STRFMA command will change the size of this object.

So, probably one of the STRFMA options is trying to add data to the QIGC2424C object, but is trying to position the pointer outside the current space occupied by the object.

You will have to take this up with IBM, I'm afraid. It may be a known problem, and there may be some PTF that will fix it.
