QUESTION POSED ON: 11 December 2007
Is there any way in OS/400 that a password minimum age policy can be enforced? I checked all password-related system values but I am not finding any value that will enforce a password minimum age policy.

EXPERT RESPONSE
As of V5R4, this function does not exist (however, I'd recommend that you check when V6R1 comes out.) In the mean time, if you want to enforce this you'd have to write your own password validation program -- retrieving the password change date and stopping the password from being changed if it didn't meet your criteria. However, you'll want to use a password validation program with caution. It receives the password in cleartext so you'll want to make sure to protect its source.
