QUESTION POSED ON: 19 January 2006 I am working with an iSeries application that uses the commands: strpccmd/strpco to redirect the user to a Web page on a local server. I would like the application to redirect to a different Web page but the address is too long for the commands to handle. Are there other commands available that can manage a longer address (path) for redirect to a server?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Strpccmd is limited in command length due to the mechanism of using the "emulation buffer" to send the command. Here are a few alternatives:
Use runrmtcmd. This requires that you run the incoming remote command server on your PC.
Use strpccmd to call a batch file on the IFS, the batch file will redirect properly.
For example: strpccmd i:myscript.bat (where i is drive mapped to iSeries IFS or any network drive and myscript.bat is for the redirection)
