QUESTION POSED ON: 21 September 2005
I have a spool file with Print Device Type *AFPDS specified. The output has an imbedded graph. The graph seem to print on an *IPDS defined printer only. Is there a way to print to a non-IPDS printer? Also, will that graph print on any IPDS defined printer?

>
If by non-IPDS you mean ASCII printers attached to the iSeries using Host Print Transform, then the only really reliable way of printing *AFPDS to ASCII printers is to first transform the *AFPDS output to something more universal, preferably PDF. There are numerous spool file products on the market that handle conversions to PDF. They typically range in price from about $500 up to $5000 depending on your needs, machine size, etc. Most of these are also capable of e-mailing the converted spool files, along with converting to other formats.

Without some sort of conversion, your results will probably not be optimal, at least not without a lot of work on your part.
