QUESTION POSED ON: 04 February 2005
Recently you answered a question for me regarding accessing iSeries data through a Linux or Windows network. What about accessing network data from the iSeries? Specifically, I'm talking about an SQL server. I've been hit with this at the last minute and I'm under a time crunch.

In order to work with remote flat files that are share on NT machine, you can use a "virtual directory" called QNTC, this can be used to "normal" files and not data base such as SQL. Look here for a detailed explanation of setting up QNTC.

In order to work with a remote database, I'd say Java is the easiest option. Please look at Search400.com's expert Kent Milligan's response to this issue.
