QUESTION POSED ON: 13 January 2005
On Windows XP, I can copy a file to the iSeries (to the IFS folder) through Windows Explorer. I can rename the file in Windows explorer, but not delete it. I'm sure this worked before. When I try to delete files on the iSeries through Windows Explorer, I receive the following error:

Cannot delete FILE: It is being used by another person or program. Close any program that might be using the file and try again.

After receiving this message, I turned off my PC and turn it on again and again tried to delete the file, but same message appears. What's happening?

EXPERT RESPONSE
I have not come across this situation. However, you may try to bypass the problem by using the RLSIFSLCK command. The RLSIFSLCK command is used to release all byte-range locks (of any type) held on a specified object.

For example:

RLSIFSLCK OBJ('/CustAccounts/May')
