Your "no extra software" solutions are really limited because Oracle doesn't fully support the Open Group DRDA standard, such as DB2 UDB for iSeries. Your "no software" solutions would be creating an export with the CPYTOIMPF CL command or downloading a Type 4 JDBC Driver for Oracle and then write an iSeries Java application that uses it.
