QUESTION POSED ON: 25 March 2002
Can I extract data from the iSeries 400 to a NT 4.0 or XP server (Excel, Access?)

>
EXPERT RESPONSE

The best way to get external data from iSeries 400 is by using ODBC driver. The Client Access ODBC driver is considered to be a very good option.

After you define the ODBC data source the iSeries data base is like any other SQL data base and you can connect to it from:

* Office (Word, Excel)
* Access
* Asp page
* ODBC compliant clients such as business object brio etc.
