QUESTION POSED ON: 19 January 2004
Is there a problem with doing an IPL (restart *yes) before a full system backup (option 21)? We do an IPL and then a full system backup every two weeks.

EXPERT RESPONSE

No problem at all. As long as your users don't mind being without the system for a little while.

I do an IPL -- RESTART(*YES) just prior to my full system backup on the last Sunday of the month. I use this regularly schedule IPL for PTFs maintenance, too.
