Q

Verify the Java level on a client machine

We perform a RTVDTAARA of QSS1MRI in a CLP to verify the OS level of a client machine before starting most updates....

Is there a similar option to verify the Java level on a client machine? We would like to have process automated to provide ease of use to our clients and ensure accuracy.

Execute the command:
QSH CMD('java -version >/tmp/javaver.txt')

You can copy from a stream file to a temporary database file, or read the file directly from the IFS. It will contain something like:

java version "1.1.8"
