Upload info from a scanner to the iSeries

Can information from a scanner attached to a PC serial or parallel port be uploaded to the iSeries? Example: Scan inventory item numbers and compare them with the order to assure they were the items ordered.

Certainly, you can. Set your scanner to send a CR/LF at the end of the transaction. Set your DDS on your display file field for the item number to auto-record advance CHECK(ER). This will return to your program after each scan. Your program can validate the field passed on each entry.
