Q

Translation for files over 1Gb that get translated to Mb

When using DIR from an FTP prompt, for files over 1Gb the file size is translated to Mb. Is there anywhere that...

this translation is indicated? We are trying to FTP data from the AS/400 to an NT box and we want to use the file size in a progress bar and the above makes the figure inaccurate for files over 1Gb.

You have to get the list in Unix format. This can be done:

1. Using the chgftpa in the server side (will set default listing to Unix format for all incoming clients).

2. Using site command:

From AS/400 FTP client -- site listfmt 1 from other ftp clients -- quote site listfmt 1.

The Unix format displays size above 1 GB correctly.
