The number of 3490 tapes required to perform an entire system backup on our iSeries 400 9406/640 went from 75 tapes, to 33 tapes. We have tried, but we cannot explain this change. Any ideas?
I can only assume that IBM changed the compression and compact data routines in the save processing. I have had this happened to a number of iSeries 400 shops. Some did an upgrade, some applied that I know about, and some didn't even do an upgrade, they just applied a series of PTF's and it started happening.
