Q

Sending an outside Internet address

I have used the CPYTOPCD and SNDDST to automate many reports to e-mail to in-house addresses through our MS Exchange server using standard internet addressing. However, when I now try to send to an outside Internet address (a vendor), nothing happens. My mail admin say's it's because the AS400 needs to be a client to the Exchange. I've not heard or this or seen it in any of the various postings I've checked.

Many times it is not possible to send email from the AS/400 to e-mail outside of the LAN due to firewall protection.

The solution is to forward the outgoing mail via the existing mail server (for example exchange server) using the procedure described here.
