Q

Monitoring submitted jobs

I'm searching for a tool that will monitor submitted jobs on our iSeries. The problem is the job does not have

to have a message waiting. What is happening is our jobs are waiting on the iSeries while our server has a message on it, and the job on the 400 is sitting there waiting for the server to respond so it can transmit data. This causes our night job to back up. What tools or packages are available to assist in monitoring for such jobs? System monitor software is available to help you become aware of your MSGW situation. You might want to consider ROBOT ALERT/CONSOLE from Help Systems; Bytware also has some monitoring tools.

Before you explore those options, however, you might want to revisit this issue and determine why this MSGW situation continues to occur. Maybe simple modifications to programs or timing will resolve your issue.
