I work in a company that the programs are made in Cobol/400. Do you believe that it is worth it to learn Cobol? What is the future of Cobol/400?
It is definitely worth learning Cobol. It is not a lost art as there are many niches within the industry that still have a strong need for Cobol programmers. We have a very large client who has a need for Cobol programmers even as they move forward into new technologies. We have other clients requesting candidates that possess RPG and Cobol. The more you know the more marketable you are.
