Flexible adhoc reporting

First of all I am a novice when it comes to extracting information from iSeries databases other than the traditional methods(RPGLE REPORTING).

What options are open to me to give flexible adhoc reporting to my users (extracting data, reports, creating spreadsheet files to IFS from existing physical files.

I am also open to third-party software products that can be implemented quickly and are user friendly.

There are many different third-party solutions that could help you. If you're looking for an IBM product, you can check out the DB2 QMF Distributed Edition which supports both a Windows & Browser client for iSeries servers. An evaluation version can be downloaded here.
