Can you provide any assistance in displaying and printing in foreign languages, such as Arabic -- which has right...
to left writing pattern?
You can find information about using Arabic or other languages that use either DBCS (Double-byte character sets) and/or right to left processing in multiple areas of the iSeries documentation. The feature code for Arabic is 2954 and should be installed on your system for the applications you are going to use in Arabic. In writing applications, you should pay close attention to the DDS keywords found in the DDS reference manual that set field attributes for right to left processing "CHECK(RL)" keyword.
In addition, you should also use the correct keyboard shifts for DBCS if the CCSID is double-byte. If I remember correctly, it is not for Arabic 2924, but you will have to verify that. There is also support for the Arabic enhanced keyboard. Printing should not be affected, as the printer files are strictly output of existing data. The data will be stored in the correct format in the files and output is simply formatting that output.
