Q

Connecting to the Unix server

I'm trying to connect to a Unix server from our iSeries using a specific port. I can log in using port 8021, but the file transfer port is 8025 and cannot seem to drop it off a file. I'm trying to use the SENDPO subcommand, but still cannot send the file. Do you have any idea why?

I am not sure what the software you use is. The ports you mentioned are not well known ports. However, all Unix machines have FTP servers, iSeries have FTP clients. If both machines are on the LAN (no firewall or port restriction between) then FTP should work. Use FTP 'unix ip address' if you receive 'connection refuse' then the FTP server on the Unix machine is down.
