Java) to directly access data on the MS Access database? At this time we are using FTP to transfer data we want direct access to on the MS Access database from the iSeries program. If ODBC or JBDC is the solution, then how can we set it up on iSeries?
No easy way to do this ...
You need an ODBC driver to get to Access. There ISN'T an ODBC driver for Microsoft on the iSeries. Your Java application can work EASILY IF you put it on a Microsoft OS. We do this all the time and it works well with that one restriction. Or use an automated FTP script from the iSeries to do a "get" on a network connected Windows system via URL.
