I'm working on setting up a new DNS server on V5R1. I have all of the entries in host tables on all of the systems. When importing to the DNS server, all entries now have the qualified domain on the end of them, i.e. ASSYS1 is now ASSYS1.ABCCompany.com. I'm wondering if there is a way to get the DNS to alias just 'ASSYS1' without the whole domain. This is how it was set up in the host file. I don't think there is a way to do it with the DNS, but wanted to ask to be sure. Our DNS is for internal use only.
Using CFGTCP on the iSeries (Option 10) you can add aliases on virtual hosts to the fully qualified names you have (FQD names).
