Q

Access data directly on the AS/400

Can I use ASP programs (which use VBscript & SQL) to access AS/400 data using DB2 Connect? I have not configured...

an HTTP server on the AS/400. Or, does the data have to be on the IFS?

You can use DB2 universal and DB2 connect to access data directly on the AS/400. The HTTP server does not have to be configured, nor does the data have to be in the IFS. You can use your standard ODBC connection methods as well as ADO, OLE DB, JDBC, SQLJ, DB2 CLI and Embedded SQL. DB2 Connect will allow you to access data from the AS/400-iSeries systems as well as S/390 systems. You can access information on this product here.
